The Board of Trustees is comprised of current parents, alumni parents, and professionals who are committed to promoting the growth and development of the School, its mission, and its educational programs. The primary responsibility of the Board is to provide strategic direction, planning, and long-term financial sustainability. The Board of Trustees is a volunteer board and is governed by the Corporation’s bylaws.

Sheila Coakley • President

Sheila​ ​Coakley​ ​is​ ​the​ ​Director​ ​of​ ​Student​ ​Accounts​ ​at​ ​the​ ​College​ ​of​ ​the​ ​Holy​ ​Cross​ ​in Worcester,​ ​MA.​ ​​ ​She​ ​has​ ​held​ ​this​ ​position​ ​for​ ​the​ ​last​ ​22​ ​years.​ ​​ ​Originally​ ​from​ ​Boston​ ​and​ ​a family​ ​of​ ​educators,​ ​Sheila​ ​completed​ ​her​ ​Bachelor​ ​of​ ​Arts​ ​at​ ​Boston​ ​College​ ​and​ ​her​ ​MBA​ ​from Simmons​ ​College.​ ​Sheila​ ​is​ ​currently​ ​serving​ ​her​ ​third​ ​year​ ​as​ ​President​ ​of​ ​the​ ​Board​ ​of​ ​Trustees and​ ​her​ ​7th​ ​year​ ​as​ ​a​ ​trustee.​ ​Her​ ​daughter​ ​Katherine​ ​attended​ ​Shrewsbury​ ​Montessori​ ​School from​ ​preschool​ ​through​ ​5th​ ​grade​ ​and​ ​is​ ​currently​ ​a​ ​junior​ ​at​ ​the​ ​College​ ​of​ ​the​ ​Holy​ ​Cross. Sheila​ ​and​ ​her​ ​family​ ​reside​ ​in​ ​Shrewsbury.
Maria Mihopoulos • Vice President

Maria​ ​Mihopoulos​ ​is​ ​currently​ ​serving​ ​her​ ​8th​ ​year​ ​as​ ​a​ ​member​ ​of​ ​the​ ​Board​ ​of​ ​Trustees. In​ ​addition​ ​to​ ​serving​ ​as​ ​the​ ​board​ ​Vice​ ​President,​ ​she​ ​also​ ​serves​ ​as​ ​Chair​ ​of​ ​the​ ​Committee​ ​on Trustees.​ ​Maria​ ​received​ ​her​ ​Bachelor​ ​of​ ​Education​ ​from​ ​McGill​ ​University​ ​and​ ​her​ ​Master​ ​of Education​ ​from​ ​Boston​ ​University​ ​and​ ​has​ ​over​ ​16​ ​years​ ​of​ ​experience​ ​as​ ​an​ ​educator,​ ​mainly​ ​as a​ ​teacher​ ​of​ ​English​ ​as​ ​a​ ​Second​ ​Language.​ ​She​ ​is​ ​not​ ​only​ ​a​ ​parent​ ​of​ ​two​ ​SMS​ ​children, Agatha​ ​(UE)​ ​and​ ​John​ ​(LE)​ ​but​ ​a​ ​member​ ​of​ ​the​ ​first​ ​6​th​​ ​year​ ​class​ ​to​ ​graduate​ ​from​ ​SMS.​ ​​ ​Maria and​ ​her​ ​family​ ​reside​ ​in​ ​Worcester.

Andrew Kyriacou • Treasurer

Andrew Kyriacou has more than 22 years experience providing comprehensive tax and financial, estate and investment counseling services to high net worth individuals and corporate executives.

He has done extensive work with clients, and a great deal of speaking as an industry expert, on tax issues relating to:
• Wealth-transfer planning
• Investment advisory services
• Individual income tax planning and compliance
• Trusts and estates
• Charitable giving

Before joining Andersen Tax, Andrew was a Tax Partner at EY, where he was in charge of the New England Area Financial Planning Group.
At Wharton, Andrew acquired his Certified Investment Management Analyst (CIMA) designation by the Investment Management Consultants Association.

Andrew received a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, with a concentration in accounting, from Boston University (BU). He also received his Juris Doctorate and Master of Laws (LL.M) in Taxation from BU as well. He is a member of both the MA and NY bar.
He is a frequent speaker and lecturer on tax and financial planning topics, including numerous appearances media outlets. Robb Report Worth Magazine has named him one of the Top 100 Financial Planners in the United States. He is an active member of his Shrewsbury, MA community and has served for many years in a volunteer capacity as a member of the Board of Trustees, and Treasurer, of the Shrewsbury Montessori School.

Megan Benison • Clerk

Megan​ ​Benison​ ​is​ ​President​ ​and​ ​owner​ ​of​ ​Benison​ ​Financial​ ​Services​ ​in​ ​Northborough, MA.​ ​​ ​Benison​ ​Financial​ ​Services​ ​is​ ​an​ ​independent​ ​financial​ ​services​ ​organization​ ​specializing​ ​in comprehensive​ ​financial​ ​planning​ ​with​ ​a​ ​specific​ ​focus​ ​on​ ​retirement​ ​planning.​ ​​ ​Megan​ ​entered the​ ​financial​ ​services​ ​industry​ ​upon​ ​graduation​ ​from​ ​Assumption​ ​College​ ​in​ ​1985​ ​with​ ​a Bachelor​ ​of​ ​Arts​ ​in​ ​Business​ ​Management.​ ​Megan​ ​and​ ​her​ ​husband​ ​Grant​ ​reside​ ​in​ ​Shrewsbury with​ ​their​ ​son​ ​Conor,​ ​who​ ​graduated​ ​from​ ​SMS​ ​in​ ​2014.​ ​Megan​ ​is​ ​serving​ ​her​ ​8​th​​ ​year​ ​as​ ​a trustee​ ​and​ ​serves​ ​as​ ​the​ ​Clerk​ ​of​ ​the​ ​Board​ ​of​ ​Trustees​ ​and​ ​as​ ​a​ ​member​ ​of​ ​the​ ​Finance Committee.

Amal Toke • Trustee

Amal​ ​Toke​ ​is​ ​the​ ​Operations​ ​Manager​ ​for​ ​the​ ​Atlantic​ ​Region​ ​of​ ​Aegion​ ​Corporation. Aegion​ ​Companies​ ​are​ ​global​ ​leaders​ ​in​ ​infrastructure​ ​protection.​ ​​ ​As​ ​Operations​ ​Manager,​ ​Amal is​ ​responsible​ ​for​ ​all​ ​the​ ​business​ ​units​ ​operating​ ​within​ ​13​ ​States​ ​of​ ​the​ ​U.S.​ ​generating​ ​over $120​ ​million​ ​dollars​ ​in​ ​annual​ ​revenues.​ ​Amal​ ​has​ ​a​ ​background​ ​in​ ​Structural​ ​Engineering​ ​and has​ ​developed​ ​several​ ​proprietary​ ​processes​ ​in​ ​the​ ​’Trenchless​ ​Technology​ ​Industry’.​ ​Besides having​ ​a​ ​Bachelor’s​ ​degree​ ​in​ ​Engineering​ ​from​ ​Osmania​ ​University,​ ​Amal​ ​also​ ​has​ ​a​ ​MBA from​ ​Cornell​ ​University.​ ​​ ​Amal​ ​has​ ​been​ ​a​ ​part​ ​of​ ​the​ ​SMS​ ​community​ ​for​ ​the​ ​past​ ​13​ ​years.​ ​​ ​His daughter​ ​Anushka​ ​attended​ ​Children’s​ ​House​ ​at​ ​SMS​ ​while​ ​his​ ​son​ ​Rishi​ ​is​ ​currently​ ​a​ ​6​th​​ ​year student.​ ​Amal​ ​is​ ​serving​ ​his​ ​5​th​​ ​year​ ​as​ ​an​ ​SMS​ ​board​ ​member​ ​and​ ​is​ ​a​ ​member​ ​of​ ​the Committee​ ​on​ ​Trustees.

Dan Mongeau • Trustee

Dan​ ​Mongeau​ ​has​ ​been​ ​involved​ ​in​ ​information​ ​technology,​ ​fire​ ​alarm​ ​electronics design,​ ​and​ ​manufacturing​ ​and​ ​business​ ​operations​ ​for​ ​over​ ​twenty​ ​years​ ​at​ ​Space​ ​Age Electronics,​ ​Inc.,​ ​a​ ​family​ ​business​ ​started​ ​in​ ​1963​ ​and​ ​now​ ​on​ ​its​ ​2nd​ ​generation.​ ​Space​ ​Age Electronics,​ ​Inc.​ ​is​ ​a​ ​manufacturer​ ​of​ ​fire​ ​alarm​ ​and​ ​life​ ​safety​ ​equipment​ ​all​ ​produced​ ​locally​ ​in Massachusetts.​ ​Dan​ ​has​ ​a​ ​Bachelor​ ​degree​ ​in​ ​Industrial​ ​Design​ ​from​ ​Rochester​ ​Institute​ ​of Technology.​ ​Dan​ ​is​ ​also​ ​involved​ ​in​ ​volunteering​ ​as​ ​a​ ​USA​ ​Archery​ ​coach​ ​in​ ​Hudson​ ​and​ ​serves on​ ​the​ ​board​ ​of​ ​the​ ​Sterling​ ​Land​ ​Trust.​ ​This​ ​is​ ​Dan’s​ ​4th​ ​year​ ​serving​ ​as​ ​a​ ​trustee.​ ​He​ ​resides​ ​in Sterling​ ​with​ ​his​ ​wife​ ​Lisa​ ​and​ ​two​ ​children.

Matthias Walz • Trustee

After​ ​medical​ ​education​ ​and​ ​one​ ​year​ ​of​ ​Residency​ ​Training​ ​in​ ​Germany,​ ​Dr.​ ​Walz emigrated​ ​to​ ​the​ ​United​ ​States​ ​in​ ​the​ ​summer​ ​of​ ​2000.​ ​He​ ​has​ ​been​ ​employed​ ​at​ ​the​ ​University​ ​of Massachusetts​ ​Medical​ ​Center​ ​since​ ​then.​ ​In​ ​addition​ ​to​ ​his​ ​clinical​ ​responsibilities​ ​at​ ​UMass,​ ​he brings​ ​to​ ​the​ ​board​ ​extensive​ ​experience​ ​in​ ​administrative​ ​work​ ​in​ ​academic​ ​healthcare,​ ​and currently​ ​serves​ ​as​ ​an​ ​Associate​ ​Chief​ ​Medical​ ​Officer​ ​for​ ​the​ ​University​ ​of​ ​Massachusetts Medical​ ​Center.​ ​Dr.​ ​Walz​ ​resides​ ​in​ ​Shrewsbury​ ​with​ ​his​ ​wife​ ​and​ ​three​ ​daughters,​ ​two​ ​SMS graduates​ ​and​ ​one​ ​current​ ​student​ ​in​ ​Lower​ ​Elementary.​ ​Dr.​ ​Walz​ ​has​ ​been​ ​part​ ​of​ ​the​ ​SMS community​ ​for​ ​the​ ​past​ ​13​ ​years​ ​and​ ​is​ ​serving​ ​his​ ​4​th​​ ​year​ ​as​ ​an​ ​SMS​ ​board​ ​member​ ​and​ ​is​ ​a member​ ​of​ ​the​ ​Executive​ ​Committee.

Martin Reznek • Trustee

Martin​ ​Reznek​ ​is​ ​an​ ​emergency​ ​physician​ ​who​ ​practices​ ​in​ ​our​ ​community​ ​and​ ​serves​ ​as the​ ​Vice-Chairman​ ​for​ ​Clinical​ ​Operations​ ​in​ ​the​ ​Department​ ​of​ ​Emergency​ ​Medicine​ ​within​ ​the UMassMemorial​ ​Health​ ​System.​ ​​ ​He​ ​also​ ​is​ ​a​ ​Professor​ ​at​ ​UMass​ ​Medical​ ​School,​ ​dedicating time​ ​to​ ​medical​ ​education​ ​and​ ​research.​ ​​ ​In​ ​addition​ ​to​ ​his​ ​medical​ ​degree​ ​from​ ​Baylor​ ​College of​ ​Medicine,​ ​Dr.​ ​Reznek​ ​holds​ ​an​ ​MBA​ ​from​ ​the​ ​University​ ​of​ ​Michigan…​ ​and​ ​is​ ​a​ ​Montessori grad.​ ​​ ​Along​ ​with​ ​his​ ​formal​ ​MBA​ ​training,​ ​Dr.​ ​Reznek​ ​also​ ​brings​ ​to​ ​the​ ​board​ ​his​ ​experience from​ ​multiple​ ​administrative​ ​roles​ ​in​ ​academic​ ​healthcare​ ​as​ ​well​ ​as​ ​prior​ ​not-for-profit​ ​board leadership​ ​experience.​ ​This​ ​is​ ​his​ ​first​ ​full​ ​year​ ​as​ ​a​ ​trustee​ ​and​ ​serves​ ​on​ ​the​ ​Finance​ ​Committee. Dr.​ ​Reznek​ ​is​ ​the​ ​proud​ ​father​ ​of​ ​two​ ​sons,​ ​who​ ​are​ ​both​ ​currently​ ​enrolled​ ​at​ ​SMS.

Antony Thinagar • Trustee

Antony​ ​Thinagar​ ​lives​ ​in​ ​Shrewsbury​ ​with​ ​his​ ​wife​ ​Sunitha,​ ​son​ ​Nevin​ ​who​ ​attends Upper​ ​Elementary​ ​and​ ​Nichelle​ ​who​ ​attends​ ​Lower​ ​Elementary.​ ​The​ ​family​ ​has​ ​been​ ​with​ ​the Shrewsbury​ ​Montessori​ ​School​ ​for​ ​the​ ​past​ ​two​ ​years.​ ​Antony​ ​holds​ ​a​ ​Bachelor’s​ ​degree​ ​in Electronics​ ​and​ ​Communications​ ​Engineering​ ​and​ ​an​ ​MBA​ ​from​ ​the​ ​University​ ​of Massachusett’s​ ​Isenberg​ ​School​ ​of​ ​Management.​ ​He​ ​is​ ​a​ ​Director​ ​at​ ​Bank​ ​of​ ​America​ ​and manages​ ​Infrastructure​ ​Integration​ ​teams​ ​for​ ​the​ ​company.​ ​Antony​ ​grew​ ​up​ ​in​ ​a​ ​family​ ​where quality​ ​education​ ​was​ ​placed​ ​in​ ​high​ ​regard​ ​as​ ​his​ ​father,​ ​mother​ ​and​ ​grandmother​ ​were​ ​all educators.​ ​In​ ​addition​ ​to​ ​serving​ ​on​ ​the​ ​SMS​ ​Board​ ​of​ ​Trustees​ ​as​ ​a​ ​member​ ​of​ ​the​ ​Finance Committee,​ ​Antony​ ​also​ ​volunteers​ ​for​ ​Habitat​ ​for​ ​Humanity,​ ​Community​ ​Harvest​ ​Project,​ ​and Shrewsbury​ ​Youth​ ​Soccer.​ ​This​ ​is​ ​Antony’s​ ​first​ ​year​ ​as​ ​a​ ​trustee.

Jamie Rotman • Trustee

Jamie​ ​Rotman​ ​has​ ​been​ ​engaged​ ​in​ ​business​ ​for​ ​25​ ​years.​ ​Currently,​ ​she​ ​is​ ​CEO​ ​of International​ ​Connections​ ​Collaborative​ ​(ICC),​ ​whose​ ​mission​ ​is​ ​to​ ​bring​ ​global​ ​relationships together​ ​with​ ​the​ ​United​ ​States,​ ​through​ ​educational,​ ​professional​ ​and​ ​social​ ​collaboration.​ ​Jamie received​ ​her​ ​MBA​ ​from​ ​Clark​ ​University​ ​followed​ ​by​ ​fourteen​ ​years​ ​in​ ​the​ ​family​ ​business, Rotmans​ ​Furniture​ ​&​ ​Carpet​ ​as​ ​an​ ​Efficiency​ ​Expert​ ​and​ ​Returns​ ​Manager.​ ​She​ ​also​ ​ran​ ​her​ ​own business​ ​Designcenters.com,​ ​accessories​ ​and​ ​jewelry​ ​from​ ​around​ ​the​ ​world​ ​while​ ​giving​ ​back​ ​a portion​ ​of​ ​the​ ​proceeds​ ​to​ ​non-profit​ ​organizations.​ ​She​ ​has​ ​served​ ​on​ ​the​ ​following​ ​boards​ ​either as​ ​Chair​ ​or​ ​contributing​ ​member​ ​-​ ​Seven​ ​Hills​ ​Foundation,​ ​Edward​ ​Street​ ​and​ ​Eaglehead​ ​Cove Condominium​ ​Association.​ ​Jamie​ ​is​ ​serving​ ​on​ ​the​ ​Committee​ ​on​ ​Trustees​ ​in​ ​her​ ​first​ ​year​ ​as​ ​a trustee.​ ​She​ ​resides​ ​in​ ​Shrewsbury​ ​with​ ​her​ ​husband​ ​Thomas​ ​Moore​ ​and​ ​daughter​ ​Sarah​ ​Rose who​ ​is​ ​entering​ ​her​ ​fifth​ ​year​ ​at​ ​SMS​ ​as​ ​a​ ​flourishing​ ​second​ ​grader.

Shelley Fortin • Trustee

Shelley​ ​Fortin​ ​is​ ​an​ ​attorney​ ​with​ ​over​ ​16​ ​years​ ​experience​ ​practicing​ ​in​ ​the​ ​area​ ​of insurance​ ​coverage.​​ ​​ ​​Her​ ​practice​ ​includes​ ​advising​ ​insurance​ ​carriers​ ​on​ ​a​ ​variety​ ​of​ ​coverage matters​ ​under​ ​general​ ​liability​ ​policies​ ​and​ ​litigating​ ​complex​ ​coverage​ ​disputes​ ​in​ ​state​ ​and federal​ ​courts.​ ​Shelley​ ​received​ ​her​ ​Bachelor​ ​of​ ​Arts.​ ​from​ ​University​ ​of​ ​California​ ​San​ ​Diego and​ ​her​ ​J.D.​ ​from​ ​University​ ​of​ ​San​ ​Diego​ ​School​ ​of​ ​Law.​ ​She​ ​is​ ​licensed​ ​to​ ​practice​ ​law​ ​in Massachusetts,​ ​California​ ​and​ ​Nevada.​ ​This​ ​is​ ​her​ ​first​ ​year​ ​serving​ ​as​ ​a​ ​board​ ​member​ ​and​ ​as​ ​a member​ ​of​ ​the​ ​Committee​ ​on​ ​Trustees.​ ​She​ ​resides​ ​in​ ​Shrewsbury​ ​with​ ​her​ ​husband​ ​and​ ​their daughter​ ​who​ ​is​ ​a​ ​student​ ​at​ ​SMS.
